Definitely a deterrent to thieves and highly visible. This presents formidable challenges to anyone planning to steal my trailer even when I leave it outside overnight on a job in a active crime area. It is a little effort to get it cranked on or off with the short little crank, which is my only negative comment about the design.It's a little tricky to get set, if it's not set right it'll fall off. Lol. Once set right then it seems to be pretty locked on. I wish i would have gotten one before my utility trailer was stolen.Where I live there has been a rash of cargo trailer thefts. I added one of these to it and the thieves just keep driving realizing it is not worth the risk. Very easy to assemble and simple to install. Has been on my trailer now for a month. LOVE IT.
