As an amateur, I've learned there's lots of trickiness in the whole do it yourself locksmith game.Bought this to replace the mechanism in my safe which went out. Was significantly cheaper than the replacement from the manufacturer.Don't guess if this will work on your application. Your safe manufacturer will be able to tell you if this will fit.Lessons learned - Photograph every step of the disassembly with your smart phone. There's a vast lack of helpful youtube videos for this replacement. Once you've gotten the inside panel off to expose the mechanism, it is a straightforward replacement process. DON'T move the levers and internals while the mechanism is apart. If you do, you'll learn more about how the safe works than you'll want to know. (Yes, I did this, turning an hours long swap into a whole weekend project). The package I received from the vendor had additional helpful information about trying it several times before you close your safe. On my application, I was able to to shim the door closer and trick the safe into allowing me to test the lock with the door open. I tried it about 50 times over a couple of hours to be absolutely certain that I trusted it to open the safe.BE AWARE, if you mess this up and lock your safe, a real locksmith would have to drill your safe for you. Expect to pay 300-500 for this service, plus parts. The mechanism itself seems to be well made, and actually more robust than the factory original. The instructions on how to program are very clearly written, and the mechanism perfectly fit.
