Yep great lock all around. Just wish it would release key when unlocked but it's a easy enough fix for a locksmith. Other than that great lock, solid build, excellent chain.Feels heavy just carrying, but not noticeable once worn very heavy duty chain linksI've only had the lock for about 3-4 weeks and use it once or twice a week, so I'm not a daily user of it, but I have been happy with it so far.The lock definitely feels more heavy duty and secure than your average U-Lock and from the research I did, it absolutely is. I figured the flexibility and length would allow the ability to possibly use this lock on non-bike specific parking spots and might give me some extra options for spots to lock up as I don't typically ride to places frequented by cyclists and there therefore aren't always dedicated bike racks and stands readily available. What I found in practice is that although the chain seems like a good length, when going around the frame and through a wheel, you really don't have a lot left to use in order to lock up, and while it is absolutely ample for use on your average street sign pole, bike racks, etc... it doesn't really allow the length necessary to put it around something like a thick street lamp, which you obviously couldn't do with a U-lock either. In short, I generally end up looking for bike specific parking anyway as opposed to something like a heavy duty solid metal fence which you might not be able to put the bike in a position to utilize the extra length this affords over a U-lock.Aside from that, I found that the lock is reasonably comfortable to wear around the waist when riding, and while it does add some weight, it is fine for 5-6 miles or so, which is probably the longest I've ridden with the lock worn. I've also found that I can wrap the lock once around the top tube, and once around the fork and then lock it to itself so that it is completely snug to the bike frame, tubing protected by the covering, and it does not hang or get in the way of my legs, the wheel, etc... so with a bit of creativity you can have an option to wear it on your body, bike or just throw it in a backpack.I've found that when wearing it, I needed to shorten it to the absolute shortest possible length in order to wear around the waist snugly, and I am roughly a 31-32" waist. I was under the impression that it could be worn for smaller waists, but I'm not sure how that could be the case unless you weren't attaching the lock to the last link, which would require opening up the sleeve and pulling out chain. Regardless, I've found that once the length is set, it stays put and is secure and doesn't come loose during the ride at all. I saw previous reviewers mention the need to occasionally retighten but luckily I've not experienced that at all and the length hasn't budged a bit since setting it.The lock itself is also high quality feeling, and the keys are thick and sturdy as well. There's no fear that you're going to bend a key or break one, and it does come with 3 keys in total, in case you lose one or two.Overall, I'm pretty pleased with it and if you're comfortable with the high price point, I'd recommend it for its functionality and quality.Used to have one of those lock+cable setups named like a noble gas a few years back that fit around my waist perfectly and haven't been able to recreate the perfect length since, until now. This is great for not needing to dig the lock out of the bag and it stays on me securely. Note: if you wanna lock both wheels or go around a tree; get one that's bigger than 36".Felt like an eternity I waited for this to come in the mail. So worth it!! Actually fit me straight out the packaging. No adjustment needed. But easy to loosen and secure the extra with a band. This lock feels secure!! Wearing it around the waist is easy and weight feels evenly distributed. Took it out next day I got it and didn’t affect my ride at all. The short length I think is perfect for me. I’m only locking one bike and like there’s not much give for thieves to attempt to use their tools. Practice locking/unlocking the bolt. You can take the key out without it being fully locked. So make sure you tug on the handle loop a few times before leaving and to keep the key in while locking then turn to ensure it’s fully locked. Saw some complaints about the weight and it’s really not a big deal. Love that it comes with three key copies.Pro tip: go to the manufacturer website and register your keys right away. Must do it while you have them as that’s the only way to duplicate keys. They need to have a log of the digit code on the keys.Solid and convenient 5 stars!!!!!I can't even tell it's on. No joke. It is in no way cumbersome while riding. Yes, it's quite heavy, however, I always forget that I'm wearing it. At times, threading it between the spokes of the tire takes an extra second or two, but it's a minor inconvenience for the Gold-rated security it provides. The quick clip that keeps it around your waist is very strong. I have to click it together with some force for it to snap into place. I bike to work even day and lock up onto a wide-tube bike rack so I needed more space that a U-lock provides. This does the trick, allowing me to lock my frame and rear wheel around the tube of the bike rack. The padlock is quite substantial. The chain links are very solid. The ripstop cover is quite heavy duty and robust. Overall, I'm extremely pleased and have recommended it to a friend who also bike commutes.Unfortunately, the lock was heavy… meant for a senior and worn around the waist it looks was way too heavy. Great for locking bike somewhere all day, not usable for a trip for coffee!Absolutely no safety. My bike was stolen in broad daylight during the two hours I was in the museum (Tate Modern, London, Bankside). The lock was broken and electric bike stolen from bicycle parking hoop. Not worth spending £££.I've only ridden a bike three times whilst wearing the Hiplock so these observations are therefore sincere but limited. Obviously I have to trust the security rating but that said the Hiplock certainly appears to be a well made, high quality lock and chain. It's a brilliant idea. I like the covering of the chain, which is durable and washable when the time comes, and the easy waist fastening/releasing using the plastic clip. The large key is not double sided so one needs to look at the lock when inserting it, but practice will make that more instinctive. A little practice is also needed to quickly unbuckle, put the chain around the bike and then padlock it - and to reverse the process so that the padlock is not on the same side as the retaining clip, which prevents you securing the chain around your waist! But again that's only practice. Surprisingly, the weight is not really noticeable on rides of about five miles, particularly when wearing a few layers of clothes. I think this is an excellent product and I shall use it all the time for my commuting bike, which I leave with three locks securing it, and when touring, when it can sit in a pannier if need be. However, I find it too heavy for a day ride wearing thinner clothing and certainly 'overkill' when making a coffee stop with other riders, particularly if the bike is within view. This is an excellent heavy duty bike chain and meets the criteria of my insurance and feels really secure. Whilst it is heavy the simple idea of having around your waist makes it easy to carry. Note that the chain is shorter than the complete webbing that goes round your waist. In use, it just manages to go around a lamppost and the bike. So make sure you check your measurements. I would recommend if you are on the robust size like me but if you are petite like my wife you may wish to think about a sturdy Sold Secure recommended D Lock (I have both). Finally there is a bit of a knack to locking and unlocking.I bought this. The item is HEAVY. It does not make cycling fun. I did wrap it around the frame rather then the put around hips. Putting on frame, makes the the cycles slightly off balance and I think it contributed to me loosing balance and falling to side. Luckily, nothing major.WARNING: Just make sure you lock it properly. The first time I used it, I made a mistake (as still a novice to theproduct). I tied the black strap and locked the padlock, but you have to make sure you put the other side of the chain is inside the padlock. (I hope that makes sense).Good points. You need a key to lock it, so you can't accidentally lock the padlock.Looks well made, but most of these locks can be defeated.Well it's certainly a hefy bit of kit, I don't think you'll worry too much about your bike with this on.I had no trouble with this sat around my middle, yes it's heavy but as the weight is all on your hips it's barely noticeable while walking or cycling recreationally.Drawback? If you decide to loop a cable through the wheels and back to the lock, you're going to struggle. The chain is very big and won't take a cable and the padlock has limited room around it so as to stop leverage attacks. Not impossible to lock but may take 3 or 4 attempts to get it in a position where it will actually shut properly.
